2003-01-01 A traditional choice for sushi cabal because they are willing to split checks for arbitarily large parties, but it was always complete roulette as to who would get their food first. At least the food was ok when it finally arrived. Well, not any longer. Not even the tea is good. The place is unclean, the staff ranges from neglectful to surly, and the food is awful. Matsutake’s original location was at National Airport before they moved to Herndon. They’ve now reopened at National in the new terminal. You’ve eaten at airport restaurants; you know what the food is like. Sushi should not be on the level of Sbarro’s. There is absolutely no reason to go to Matsutake. Hama Sushi, one of the best sushi restaurants in the area (and not any more expensive), is just down the street. Matsutake is disqualified.

2002-11-29 Ok, I miss the good old days when they gave us good tables and good service and separate checks. But those days are gone. Now they lose reservations, have terrible service, and... well, I’m sorry, but I’m not going to eat raw fish in a place where my shoes stick to the floor. No sir-ee bob. |
