Still the choice for reliability and atmosphere, at least if you get seated upstairs where the chairs and “tables” are funky and foreign. I brought a group here recently and it was pretty much exactly as it has been since the 80s, which is why it remains my first choice for introducing people to Ethiopian food.

This is where I first had Ethiopian food. It was very tasty... but the staff at the time were somewhat malicious. The placed a plate of innocuous looking peppers on the table. And waited. And then laughed, and laughed, and laughed. And kept laughing every time they had to refill our pitcher of water. Fuckers. ;-) Everything I had up until that point was great. I couldn’t tase anything for a while after that, so they could have fed me cow patties and I wouldn’t have known.
