Having asked for spicy, it would have been nice if some sort of spice registered on the tongue.

I had the Nasi Goreng seafood, and while the fried rice was tasty if bland, I should have just passed on the seafood. The tea and iced coffee were lovely, however, and the service tries hard to please.

Personally, I like being able to observe the bustle of the firehouse next door- but beware the mosquitos if you sit outside!

Indonesian restaurant I used to visit when going to the Uptown, back when that was an expedition into the city. Often reviewed as being “Asian fusion”, but I think the fusion happened in Asia instead of in the kitchen. DC does not have many Indonesian restaurants to compare it with.

Once, taking an order for a Coke, the waitress wrote it down, nodded politely, and went back into the kitchen. Two minutes later I saw her disappear out the front door wearing a jacket. She returned carrying a shopping bag with two-liter bottles of Coke, went into the kitchen without a word, and came out with the drinks.
