2002-12-02 Set in a very British Imperialist space, the atmosphere reeks of indolent privilege and class separation. Very old-guard DC, as well. The waitstaff is very correct, and stuffed into uncomfortable-looking suits. Just getting chai was a huge inconvenience [I guess I was supposed to ask for Earl Grey]- and every time someone emptied their water glass our waiter seemed to take it as a personal affront. The food was good [a few dishes better than at connaght, some not as good], but not at all worth the price. I know I may be odd, but I prefer my food to be at least up to the promise of the decor, if not better than it. In this case, the emphasis is on appearance- and you pay for it. |
