Rinconcito Boliviano

Reports from the roving food-plan staff are that Rinconcito Boliviano has closed. No great loss to the culinary world, but I’m always sorry to see a mom-and-pop business go under.

This is definitely a family restaurant. As in, I don’t think they really wanted us there, as we weren’t related at all. Most of what we tried to order wasn’t available. My chicken soup with vegetables came out thin, greasy, and watery. I stole some of shields’ rice to make it palatable. And then I stole some of his chicken, because his dish rocked. Ah, well.

Home cooking, Bolivian style. I really mean home cooking, too, to the extent that beverage service means you get up and help yourself from the fridge.

Only about half the menu was available. I had the fried chicken with rice, which really was very good. Others were not so lucky. Between the inconsistent food, unknown menu, and consistently absent service, I can’t really recommend this place. Too bad; it was some tasty fried chicken.
