The restaurant is subtitled “Fine Regional Cuisine”, and I must agree. Suzanne is the latest entry in the “we’re in the agricultural heaven on the east side of Seneca Lake so let’s open a restaurant to feature all the yummy food produced here” restaurant category, and I’m not complaining. Like The Bistro at Red Newt and Stonecat Cafe, Suzanne features regional produce, dairy, meats and Finger Lakes wines. Unlike the other restaurants, the style is much more classical and subdued. The restraint with which the foods are seasoned and the attention to detail shows a classic French influence.
The spring/early summer menu offers such dishes as “jumbo lump crab and salmon ravioli with a Champagne vinaigtrette”, a chicken spring roll, diver scallops on a potato galette, asparagus soup, roasted chicken with vegetable medly in riesling wine sauce, rack of lamb with garlic and goat cheese mashed potatoes and ratatouille... and so on.
The setting is lovely, in a 1903 farmhouse with views of the lake. The interior decor is simple and tasteful. Definitely worth the drive if you’re anywhere in western New York state.
