Saucy pulled pork, greasy limp fries, impatient service, decent beer, and live music in the back room.

It’s legit, I just dont dig on swine much.

Don’t go with a crowd: there’s only one table that can seat more than four diners. We ended up at the bar that runs the length of the dining room, which is not to say that Half Moon has a huge bar; rather, it has a tiny dining room.

I wasn’t that keen on the sauce (tomato-based, slightly sweet), but the ribs themselves were fantastic: smokey, tender, and very meaty. The french fries were rather limp, the beans nothing special, the potato salad rather bland, and the collards tasted as if they’d been in the pot all day (which I guess a lot of people like). Buffalo-style chicken wings were great, hot out of the fryer and swimming in very hot sauce; pity that they were served with a bland ranch-style dressing rather than blue cheese. Pulled pork was pretty tasty, and Vijay reports that his sausage link (Texas style smoked hot) was some good meat.

The menu also offers fried catfish, hamburger, and smoked chicken.

Not bad. But I’m still searching for the ’que of my dreams.
