I wasn’t sure what to expect when I set out for CF Folks this afternoon. I had heard about it for years, but couldn’t remember any details, other than it gets good buzz on various internet forums.

It’s a lunch counter. An old-fashioned lunch counter, with 15 or so stools at the bar, four two-tops, and some plastic tables outdoors. But with a very modern menu. Check out their website for details.

Based on only one lunch (which is all they serve), I can say that it’s a very good lunch counter. I had a crabcake sandwhich, served on a good roll, with a gorgeous thick slice of beefsteak tomato (but then, it is August, when a middle-aged broad’s fancy turns lightly to thoughts of tomatoes), and lettuce, with tartar sauce and good coleslaw (eg, little or no mayo) on the side. The weakness was the crabcake itself, which had little lump meat and rather too much, um, bulkhead (aka shrapnel, aka shell). But the flavor was fine.
